How a family-owned business known for club fitting became the perfect fit for Toptracer.
A mainstay on the Connecticut golf scene for some 15 years, the Cote family operates two award-winning facilities—in Southington and nearby Portland. When the Cotes purchased the Southington site in November of 2019, they had two main goals: Modernize the driving range and appeal to younger golfers.
The Cotes installed 68 Toptracer monitors shortly after acquiring the Southington site and became the first driving range in town to offer the technology. The facility also has a BYOF&B policy where customers are allowed to bring their own coolers with food and beverage—a practice that separates the venue from their competitors.
Sales: In 2020, Chris Cote’s Golf Shop in Southington saw a 275% increase in revenue, even through the impact of Covid-19.
From 2020-2021, Chris Cote’s Golf Shop saw a 110% increase in bucket sales YOY. When you narrow the parameters to March through September (peak range season in New England), the numbers were even more impressive: up 147%.
The range has increased bucket prices twice to account for high demand and value, and there has been sustained sales growth every year.
Customers: A remarkable 94% of guests utilize Toptracer Range during their visits.
Programming: Chris Cote’s attracts groups and parties to the range during chilly fall and winter months thanks to heaters in their bays. And on the first day of warmer temps, it’s not uncommon to see an hours-long wait for a bay.
Lessons are also a huge driver for bucket sales as players purchase buckets post-lesson to work on their game.
