Forthview Golf Range
How a small range in the central Scottish countryside went from modest to modern.
Forthview Golf Range wasn’t sure if Toptracer was right for them. As a small, 20-bay facility in central Scotland, the idea of investing in Toptracer seemed like a significant risk.
In 2019, Forthview installed Toptracer in 16 practice bays and 3 private bays. The installation at Forthview—one of the earliest adopters of the technology in all of Scotland—marked a turning point for the facility. Once seen as a financial challenge, Toptracer is now considered a strategic necessity for Forthview.
Sales: The results at Forthview have been remarkable, and they were felt immediately: turnover increased by 300% in the first year. Over the course of its 5-year term, turnover is up more than 600% over pre-Toptracer levels. In 2023, Forthview experienced its busiest year yet—surpassing even the impressive year-1 totals.
The increase in business has resulted in the expansion of facilities, as well. American Golf opened a store on site and there are plans to add a bar and restaurant along with 10 additional bays in 2024.
Customers: The driving range has become a hub for diverse demographics, with 50% of customers being non-golfers or unconventional golf enthusiasts.
Programming: Toptracer facilitates monthly competitions, which fosters a sense of community among 13 ranges in Scotland. The ability to host national events and attract sponsors has been a valuable engagement tool for golfers and organizations alike.
Staff: In 2018, the facility had four full-time employees and a couple part-timers. Today, Forthview employs more than 25 people, the majority of whom work at the venue on a full-time basis.
